Hop Shoots Hunza Pakistan
Hop shoots, also known as “hop sprouts” or “hop greens,” are a delicacy in some regions of Pakistan particularly in the area hunza gilgit baltistan region, which is the largest hop-growing region in Pakistan. The shoots are typically picked in the spring when they are about 20-25cm long and are very tender.
They have a delicate, slightly bitter taste and are often prepared and eaten as a vegetable. They have a flavor similar to asparagus, and are high in Vitamin C. Some breweries also uses these shoots to brew special beer.
Hunza is not a major producer of hops, so hop shoot exports from Hunza would likely be relatively limited. However, Hunza has been traditionally producing hops which are commonly used to brew beer in World and also exported to other countries.
